About

I wake up every day inspired to challenge the reasons the status quo exists. There are countless policies and practices in youth development that when further examined, do not achieve what they set out to do. Children’s Rights to health, education, and personal well-being remain unprotected in countless settings around the world despite the best of intentions. It is my hope to dedicate my life’s work to critically examining social programming and policy for children. I have a desire to use my experience working with marginalized and underserved youth, in tandem with my holistic knowledge of childhood, to improve the quality of and access to basic education while reducing the amount of time a child spends removed from education as a result of conflict in developing countries.

Academic Writing

As a student in the Children's Studies program at Eastern Washington University, I focused my academic career on better understanding unqiue intersections of marginalized populations. In my program I focused on the sociology and psychology of childhood as well as education and special education techniques and strategies. At the University of Pennsylvania, my studies focus on International Educational Development and Child Development - specifically cognitive development and nonformal education in South and South East Asia. In this section you will find documents produced during my tenure at Eastern Washington University and University of Pennsylvania. Click on the title photo to see the complete document.

As a volunteer Radio Programmer with KYRS, I host a weekly radio show. QueerSounds airs every Thursday night and plays music by LGBTQ musicians. In addition, we volunteer to support the KYRS diverse community of programmers. Use the icon at the left to hear a sample show I hosted on KYRS.
